Biography

Attorney Gregory W. Kirschenbaum, of counsel to the firm, believes that all employees deserve a workplace free from discrimination and harassment. Mr. Kirschenbaum works hard to help his clients achieve the results they desire – whether that’s counsel on sexual harassment or other claims.

Mr. Kirschenbaum has seen this hard work payoff with real results. He was co-trial counsel in a $2.2M Plaintiff Verdict for a race and retaliation case in the Southern District of New York. Moreover, Mr. Kirschenbaum has been recognized by Super Lawyers as a Rising Star in 2017 and 2018, while also being awarded the “Lead Counsel” rating in Labor & Employer law for 2018. Mr. Kirschenbaum has also received the Clients’ Choice Award from Avvo for 2017 and 2018.

At Brooklyn Law School, Mr. Kirschenbaum’s dedication to workers’ rights led to him winning the Cali Award for a Collective Bargaining Workshop and obtaining a prestigious Peggy Browning Fund Fellowship. Mr. Kirschenbaum spent his 10-week Fellowship working on labor law issues, contracts interpretation, and intellectual property issues at the Major League Baseball Players Association. Earlier, Mr. Kirschenbaum earned his undergraduate degree in political science from the University of Delaware.

“Our clients are what makes me passionate about being a lawyer. All of our clients have been wronged, in some way, by their employer, and many have even lost their jobs. Being able to help people in their time of need is why I became a lawyer and having a satisfied client at the end of my representation is the most important thing to me. It is that positive result that makes all of the hard work worth it,” Mr. Kirschenbaum said. He continued, “especially in the #metoo era, it is vital for every employee, woman or man, who has been subjected to unwanted sexual advances, to come forward and have their voices heard. For too long people in power have used their influence to stifle and take advantage of others.” Mr. Kirschenbaum is committed to using all legal avenues to advance the rights of his clients.

Mr. Kirschenbaum has also contributed to Lawyer Monthly, writing about employees’ rights when dealing with a disability in the workplace.

Mr. Kirschenbaum handles all facets of sexual harassment and employment discrimination, as well as cases based on race, religion, sexual orientation, pregnancy, gender, nationality, age, and disability. He also litigates cases based on overtime or minimum wage violations under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and the New York Labor Law (NYLL).

Mr. Kirschenbaum also handles cases of retaliation. If you reasonably believe that your employer is harassing and/or discriminating against you because of your protected class and you complain, you may be protected from retaliation. Although retaliation is illegal under various federal, state, and city laws, it does occur. Workers should always consult with an attorney if they feel they are being harassed, discriminated against, or retaliated by their employer.

Mr. Kirschenbaum is happily married and a member of his local community board in New York City.
