Hannah Hughes

Hannah is a private wealth lawyer who specialises in advising internationally mobile high net worth clients on a broad range of issues.

She has particular expertise in tax planning for UK resident but non-UK domiciled individuals and their families, including in relation to inheritance tax, income tax, capital gain tax, the establishment and taxation of trusts, remittance planning, succession planning and the application of double tax treaties. Her practice covers advising on the steps individuals should take prior to coming to, or departing from, the UK to ensure tax efficiency.

Hannah advises on the application of the statutory residence test to determine UK tax resident or non-resident status. She works with advisors in other jurisdictions to help international clients plan in ways that suit their cross-border circumstances. Hannah advises UK-based individuals and trusts on tax matters, including inheritance tax. She also advises on all aspects of estate and succession planning, including drafting pre- and post- nuptial agreements, wills, Lasting Powers of Attorney, post-death variations of wills and in relation to challenges brought against wills and the deceased's estate.

Career

Hannah joined Wiggin Osborne Fullerlove in 2014, becoming a partner in 2022.

Hannah trained at Macfarlanes LLP from 2008 to 2010 and practised with thatfirm until 2014.
