Heather J. Schlozman

Heather J. Schlozman is a skilled attorney specializing in civil rights and employment law. After graduating cum laude from Duke University in 1989 with a degree in Comparative Literature and Spanish, she initially pursued academia before discovering her passion for law. She earned her J.D. from Washington University in St. Louis in 1994, where she graduated in the top 20% of her class and served as an editor of the Journal of Urban and Contemporary Law.

Heather’s legal career began with a clerkship for the Honorable Clyde J. Kuehn on the Illinois Court of Appeals, followed by nine years at the General Counsel’s office of the Social Security Administration. In 2008, she co-founded Dugan Schlozman LLC, where she represents employees in civil rights cases.

Heather is also an active community advocate, serving on the board of the Kansas City Workers Justice Center and volunteering at legal clinics to assist low-income clients with wage theft claims. She regularly presents on employment law issues at the Women’s Employment Network and is involved with the American Diabetes Association as a legal advocate. Recognized as a Super Lawyer, Heather enjoys spending time outdoors with her family and rescue dogs.
