Heather Rutherford

Ms. Rutherford joined the firm in 2019. She graduated from Williams College with a B.A. in Sociology and Psychology in 1999. She is a 2009 graduate of the University of Denver Sturm College of Law, where she was a board member for the Women's Law Association and a published member of the University of Denver Water Law Review. Before moving to Niwot in 2010, she clerked for a judge in Denver District Court.

Ms. Rutherford is the parent of two children, so she understands the emotional, physical, and logistical challenges of parenting. She uses this experience to create parenting plans that work for families. Her goal is to work towards a settlement through collaboration, negotiation, and mediation. However, she is ready to represent your interests in court if settlement is not an option. Ms. Rutherford is trained in collaborative divorce, a solution-focused method of divorce that can reduce costs, lead to tailored outcomes, result in less stress, and leave families better able to co-parent post-divorce. Ms. Rutherford is also a Consilium Institute certified practitioner. Consilium is a comprehensive, practical approach to family law which works within the existing legal structure to change how attorneys approach clients and cases, transforming outcomes to restructure a family rather than destroy it.
