Ian Evans is a 2013 graduate of Ohio Northern University Claude W. Pettit College of Law. He joined the firm in November 2013 as an associate.

Acquisition of Insurance Business

Ian represented an individual in the purchase of an insurance business with premium billables in excess of several million dollars. He negotiated an asset acquisition agreement and the related documents, advised the client on financing strategies, negotiated sophisticated real estate issues and successfully led the deal to closing.

Sale of Fast Food Franchise

Ian represented a local franchisee in the sale of a national fast food franchise location in all aspects of the transaction. He negotiated the transfer agreement and real estate lease, and advised the client on a variety of asset sale, tax, real estate and business succession issues.

Sophisticated Trust Planning for Family Business

When it came time to transfer a local real estate business, Ian advised the founder on how best to establish a trust for the seamless continuation of the business after the founder’s death. He drafted the trust, reviewed the reams of underlying documents, and successfully implemented the plan.

Solar Power Development

Ian represented multiple landowners in the negotiation of sophisticated, 30-year land lease agreements to develop multi-million dollar solar power projects. He has negotiated option agreements, lease agreements, easements, and related documents, advised the clients on financing and farming strategies, negotiated sophisticated real estate issues, and successfully led the deals to closing. Afterward, Ian counseled clients on the best estate planning strategies for adding the solar farm rents to the estate plan.

Community Service

Ian Evans takes his commitment to the community seriously. Ian serves on local boards that bring immediate, focused assistance to those who need it.

Mental Health & Recovery Board of Union County

Beginning in 2015, Ian has been an active member of the Board of Directors of the Mental Health & Recovery Board of Union County. As a member Ian helps plan, monitor and direct funds for mental health and alcohol/drug recovery services for the residents of Union County. He was appointed to the Board by the Union County Commissioners.

Bridges Community Action Partnership

Since 2014, Ian has served as a member and on the finance committee of Bridges Community Action Partnership. Bridges is a private non-profit agency dedicated to helping and serving low-income individuals and families in Delaware, Madison, Union, Shelby, Champaign, and Logan counties. It offers a variety of programs in financial education, emergency services, residential and housing assistance, and more.
