For more than 40 years, Irene Makridis has been a trusted advocate for clients facing complex legal issues in Northern Ohio. She is a 1974 graduate of Warren G. Harding High School and earned her B.S. from Youngstown State University in 1977, with studies in Combined Sciences and Psychology. Irene went on to earn her JD from the University of Toledo in 1980 and has been licensed to practice in Ohio since 1981. Her admissions include the U.S. District Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of Ohio, the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals, and the U.S. Tax Court. Irene is active in the Ohio State Bar Association, the Trumbull County Bar Association, and NOSSCR. She began her legal career as a criminal defense attorney with the Trumbull County Public Defender’s Office, representing clients accused of serious felonies. She later developed a substantial Social Security Disability practice and also handles workers’ compensation and personal injury claims, including car accidents, slip-and-falls, assaults, medical malpractice, and product liability cases. Irene has represented clients in bankruptcy, wrongful termination, divorce and dissolution, and estate planning and probate matters, and she has argued cases in the Seventh and Eleventh District Courts of Appeals. In 2019, Legal Aid recognized her service with its Volunteer Attorney of the Year award.
