Isabella Stankowski-Booker gained valuable experience in insurance and reinsuance law and related legal matters through her position as In-House Counsel with one of the world's largest reinsurance companies, both at their offices in Munich and in London. In that capacity, she regularly resolved coverage issues associated with complex commercial property claims of international Fortune 5000 companies and participated in market meetings in the US, London, Paris and Zurich. She further served as wording expert to claims colleagues and underwriters. As such, Isabella advised the Property, Engineering, and Energy first-party business units on policy wordings and related legal issues. She also drafted bespoke insurance wordings for non-traditional risks that have no standarized wording. In London, she managed all direct, treaty, and facultative claims from the company's contingency business, which includes event cancellation/nonappearance, film and media, prize indemnity, sports personal accident as well as kidnap and ransom. Furthermore, she drafted and reviewed policy wordings and served as a member of the IUA Contingency Claims and Wording Committee. Isabella is a 2003 graduate of Duke University, where she received a B.A. in Political Science and French. She then obtained her Juris Doctorate from Washington University School of Law in St. Louis in 2007, followed by Post Doctorate Studies of German and European Law at Ruprecht-Karls-University School of Law in Heidelberg, Germany.
