Biography

James A. "Jim" Goldstein

For more than 40 years, James A. "Jim" Goldstein has devoted his career to representing individuals and families in medical malpractice, catastrophic injury, trucking, and wrongful death litigation. As the founding partner of Goldstein Hayes Trial Lawyers, he has helped build one of Georgia's premier plaintiff trial firms by focusing on complex, high-value litigation that demands exceptional preparation, substantial resources, and experienced trial advocacy.

Throughout his career, Mr. Goldstein has built his practice on a simple philosophy: catastrophic injury litigation is not a volume business. From the beginning, he has intentionally limited the firm's caseload so every client receives direct attorney involvement and every case receives the time, attention, and resources necessary to be fully prepared for trial. That philosophy has shaped the culture of Goldstein Hayes Trial Lawyers for more than four decades.

Widely recognized as one of Georgia's leading medical malpractice attorneys, Mr. Goldstein has helped recover more than $200 million in medical malpractice cases alone. His practice also includes birth injuries, catastrophic commercial vehicle collisions, traumatic brain and spinal cord injuries, product liability, construction and industrial accidents, swimming pool drowning incidents, and other catastrophic injury and wrongful death matters. Many of the firm's most significant cases are referred by attorneys who recognize the experience, resources, and trial capability these complex matters require.

Successfully litigating these cases requires far more than legal knowledge. Mr. Goldstein routinely works with nationally recognized physicians, engineers, economists, life-care planners, accident reconstructionists, and other leading experts to develop compelling, evidence-based cases. Whether confronting hospitals, healthcare systems, trucking companies, manufacturers, or national insurance carriers, every matter is prepared from the outset with the expectation that it may ultimately be decided by a jury.

Under Mr. Goldstein's leadership, Goldstein Hayes Trial Lawyers has recovered nearly $1 billion in verdicts and settlements, including more than $400 million in commercial motor vehicle litigation, over $200 million in medical malpractice recoveries, and numerous seven-, eight-, and nine-figure results for catastrophically injured clients and families who have suffered the loss of a loved one. While every case is unique, those results reflect decades of disciplined preparation, strategic advocacy, and an unwavering commitment to pursuing justice.

Mr. Goldstein has earned recognition from many of the legal profession's most respected organizations, including The Best Lawyers in America, Martindale-Hubbell AV Preeminent®, Georgia Super Lawyers, The National Trial Lawyers, and Fortune's list of Pre-Eminent Lawyers in the United States. He is also a frequent lecturer on medical malpractice, catastrophic injury litigation, and trial advocacy and has mentored generations of trial lawyers throughout his career.

More than four decades after founding Goldstein Hayes Trial Lawyers, Mr. Goldstein continues to personally represent clients in the firm's most significant litigation while helping develop the next generation of trial lawyers. His practice remains guided by the same principles that have defined his career: meticulous preparation, uncompromising integrity, personal client relationships, and a willingness to take difficult cases to trial when justice demands it.
