Biography

Mr. Thompson is a graduate of the University of Florida School of Business and College of Law. He also received a Ll.M. in Taxation from the Emory University School of Law after which he began the practice of law with the Department of Justice in 1991 where he was a trial attorney. Since joining the firm in 1995, Mr. Thompson has tried numerous cases involving issues of professional, automobile and premises liability, as well as cases involving employment and business related disputes. In addition to trial work, Mr. Thompson regularly consults with clients in areas of employment, contract law litigation avoidance, coverage issues and good faith claim practices. He devotes significant time consulting and litigating issues, and his diverse civil and commercial litigation practice ranges from catastrophic personal injury disputes to complex insurance, business, and internet related litigation.


Mr. Thompson has successfully defended suits at both trial and appellate levels, and is licensed to practice in all Florida State Courts, the United States District Courts for the Middle and Southern Districts of Florida and the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeal. He is Board Certified as a Civil Trial Lawyer by the Florida Bar, and is ranked by Martindale Hubbell as an AV Preeminent Rated Lawyer. In addition, he has been recognized by Florida Super Lawyers every year since in 2006.


Mr. Thompson is an invited member of the Federation of Defense and Corporate Counsel where he chairs the premises and security practice section. He is also a member of the Florida Defense Lawyers Association, the Defense Research Institute, and the St. Petersburg Bar Association. Mr. Thompson is also active in the community as a Board Member and past President of the Downtown St. Petersburg club of Rotary International and the past Chair of the Board for the St. Petersburg Free Clinic.
