Biography

James E. Gibbons is an experienced trial and appellate lawyer, with an emphasis on commercial disputes and insurance coverage.

James has acted as counsel of record on several key California decisions, including Buss v. Superior Court (1997) 16 Cal.4th 35; PPG Industries, Inc. v. Transamerica (1999) 20 Cal.4th 310; Global Financial Distributors v. Superior Court (2019) 35 Cal.App.5th 179; and Mitchell v. Twin Galaxies (2021) 70 Cal.App.5th 207. In addition, he served as lead counsel for a federal securities class action involving a Ponzi scheme perpetrated in the U.S. and Japan, in which more than $30 million was recovered for the 8,000-plus person class. Prior to joining London Fischer LLP, James chaired the Insurance Coverage department at a national firm based in Los Angeles.

James protects clients’ interests by navigating complex insurance and business disputes and implementing practical, cost-effective, and successful resolution strategies.

James serves as a judge pro tem in the Los Angeles Superior Court.
