Biography

James Quinlan, based in the firm’s Atlantic City office, is a member of the firm’s Commercial Litigation and Business Law Practice Groups.

Jim is an accomplished legal executive with nearly 20 years’ experience in corporate law, contract negotiations, risk and crisis management, litigation, and compliance.

As part of his private practice, Jim presently handles commercial disputes in the state and federal courts of Pennsylvania and New Jersey including estate litigation in Orphans Court of the Court of Common Pleas for Pennsylvania and the Chancery Division for the Superior Court of New Jersey. He also handles drafting and negotiating of a wide array of transactional agreements and deals including software (SaaS) agreements, employment and executive agreements, and sports sponsorship partnership agreements. Additionally, Jim provides governance and corporate advice to clients.

Separately, Jim is Chief Administrative Officer and General Counsel to a transportation and parking management company operating in New Jersey and Florida.

Practice Highlights:

Jim has served as Chief Legal Officer at a social media detection and monitoring software company, where he provided strategic counsel on all legal and governance matters including data and privacy law concerns, while managing the HR and risk departments along with the companies’ domestic and foreign subsidiaries.

Prior to his in-house role, Jim was a Partner and trial attorney with a national law firm, where he concentrated his practice on complex commercial and catastrophic tort cases with a focus on product liability, aviation and maritime accidents and claims. He also litigated general commercial cases and coverage disputes and counseled clients on compliance matters including warranty and product warnings.

Jim has worked with a diverse client base including Fortune 50 International companies, NPOs, and businesses in a wide variety of industries.

Jim started his legal career in Atlantic County as a law clerk to the Honorable Daryl F. Todd, Sr., J.S.C. for the Civil Division of the Superior Court of New Jersey.

Community

Outside of his practice, Jim developed extensive experience leading organizations through director and officer level positions on boards of multiple local, regional, and national non-profit organizations. He serves on the School Board for the City of Ventnor, and is a board member and General Counsel (pro bono) to the Irish Memorial, a Pennsylvania charitable non-profit for the internationally renowned “Irish Memorial - Leacht Cuimhneachain na nGael,” located in Olde City, Philadelphia.
