JD Mazzocco is a shareholder in Babst Calland’s Litigation
and Environmental groups. His practice
focuses on environmental and complex commercial litigation. His environmental litigation experience
includes representing clients in environmental cost recovery cases and federal,
state, and local environmental regulatory matters, including large-scale
citizen suits and environmental class actions.
Mr. Mazzocco has extensive experience representing clients in trials and
hearings in federal and state courts, as well as before administrative bodies
and arbitration panels.
His complex commercial litigation experience includes
representing clients in a wide variety of matters, including toxic tort
actions, contract and lease disputes, and premises liability actions.
Background
Mr. Mazzocco received his B.A. in
English and a minor in Chemistry, cum
laude, from Gettysburg College in 2011.
Mr. Mazzocco received his J.D. from Duquesne
University School of Law in 2014. During
law school, he served as an intern at several law firms in the Pittsburgh area,
worked as a teaching assistant, and was an award-winning individual and team
member of Duquesne University’s Appellate Moot Court Board, competing in the
Federal Bar Association Thurgood A. Marshall Memorial Moot Court Competition
and the WVU National Energy & Sustainability Moot Court Competition.

and Affiliations
Mr. Mazzocco is admitted to
practice in Pennsylvania and before the United States District Court for the
Western District of Pennsylvania. He is a member of the Allegheny County Bar
Association. In addition, Mr. Mazzocco is a member of the Junior Advisory
Council of the Humane Animal Rescue of Pittsburgh, a non-profit organization
dedicated to the welfare of animals, pet owners, and the community.
Mr. Mazzocco received Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch® in America recognitions for Litigation – Environmental in 2021-2025, Transportation Law in 2022-2025, and Construction Law in 2024-2025. He has been selected to the Pennsylvania Rising Stars list (Thomson Reuters) since 2018.
