Biography

Jim’s practice involves representing financial institutions in the areas of creditors’ rights and problem loan workouts, default resolution, debt restructurings, and commercial foreclosure. He represents secured creditors and other participants in all aspects of the bankruptcy process. His practice emphasizes commercial finance and asset-based lending, representing institutional lenders in structuring, negotiating, and documenting sophisticated single-lender, multiple-lender, and borrower-financing transactions. In addition, he counsels bank clients with respect to regulatory matters at both the federal and state level. Jim has acted as lead counsel in commercial financing transactions totaling over $1 billion.

Jim also spends a significant amount of time representing physicians, clinic, hospitals and other health care entities in mergers and acquisitions.

Jim represents individuals and businesses in real estate matters; oil and gas matters; farm and ranch issues; bankruptcy issues; partnership, corporate and limited liability company issues; estate planning and general business litigation.

Jim is a native of Downs, Kansas, and a graduate of Washburn University School of Law. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Kansas where he majored in Business Administration, with an emphasis in Accounting. Jim began his association with Kennedy Berkley Yarnevich & Williamson, Chartered in 1999. Jim is a member of the American Bar Association, Kansas Bar Association, and Saline-Ottawa County Bar Association. Jim has been active in a number of local charitable and civic organizations.
