Jason Wapiennik is a customs attorney and the founder of Great Lakes Customs Law. For more than 15 years, he has focused exclusively on U.S. Customs & Border Protection matters, helping individuals and importers nationwide resolve seizures, penalties, prior disclosures, RFIs, protests, classification disputes, AD/CVD issues, offers in compromise, drawback questions, and more—including matters that reach federal court and the Court of International Trade. He has handled 700+ cases, has more than 100 active matters at any given time, and has recovered over $11 million for clients. Jason knows the FP&F process at ports around the country and has built strong working relationships with the officers and teams who decide these cases. Based in Illinois and Michigan, he serves clients from offices in Chicago and Detroit and works remotely nationwide. Before founding the firm in 2009, he trained at Edmund Maciorowski, P.C. His results are visible in published outcomes and rulings, but many wins happen quietly through practical advice that prevents larger problems.
