Jeffrey A. Block founded what is now known as Block O’Toole & Murphy in 1989 after graduating from Brooklyn Law School. For more than three decades, he has tried and resolved complex personal injury cases involving construction accidents, motor-vehicle collisions (including commercial vehicle accidents), premises liability, and wrongful death matters.
Mr. Block has obtained over one hundred recoveries exceeding $1 million each, including several major verdicts and settlements such as a $53.5 million construction accident jury verdict in a Brooklyn case and a $14 million jury verdict in a major motor vehicle accident case in Long Island. He is regularly asked by fellow attorneys to serve as trial counsel in significant cases.

- $8,000,000 settlement for a non-union laborer who fell through rotted subflooring on a construction site
- $7,000,000 settlement for a union carpenter struck in the face by a falling pipe scaffold clamp
Recognized by peers and the judiciary for his trial work, Mr. Block has been selected to New York Super Lawyers every year since 2008 and to Best Lawyers in America every year since 2014. In 2023, he was named Best Lawyers’ “Lawyer of the Year” in New York City for Plaintiff Personal Injury Litigation, and in 2025 received the Excellence in Advocacy Award from the New York City Trial Lawyers Alliance (NYCTLA).
