Biography

Jeffrey D. Kent has devoted his entire legal career to criminal defense, practicing exclusively criminal law since 1992, when he began in Orange County, California. He earned B.A. degrees with honors in Economics and Political Science from the University of California, Irvine (1989), then graduated with honors from Western State University College of Law in Fullerton (1992) and passed the California Bar immediately. While in law school, he gained valuable perspective working with both the Orange County Public Defender and the Orange County District Attorney’s Office. Over more than 25 years, Jeff has handled several thousand criminal cases, including 100+ jury trials, matters in state and federal court, and multiple homicide cases. He is among a small group of attorneys to have argued before the California Supreme Court and is a California State Bar Certified Specialist in Criminal Law—one of roughly 25 in Orange County and about 350 statewide. His clients have included judges, politicians, attorneys, public defenders, and law enforcement officers. Jeff holds top professional recognitions, including an AV rating from Martindale-Hubbell, a 10.0 Avvo rating, and repeated selection to Super Lawyers.
