Biography

Jim Powell's litigation practice is focused in the areas of catastrophic personal injury and automobile crashes. Jim is a native of Loris, South Carolina and has spent the entirety of his twenty-four year career representing clients along the coast of South Carolina. Prior to joining Morgan and Morgan, Jim was the head of a personal injury litigation team at a well-respected personal injury firm in Myrtle Beach. Prior to that, he practiced with one of South Carolina's preeminent insurance defense firms for 18 years. During this time Jim was able to gain valuable experience as it relates to insurance claims handling, case evaluation, and litigation tactics from the insurance company perspective. This experience allows him to maximize the recoveries of his clients.

Jim is a graduate of Clemson University and the Cumberland School of Law of Samford University. Jim lives in Myrtle Beach with his wife Mary Kate and their children.
