Biography

Joel N. Patch is a Partner at Hinman, Howard & Kattell and a member of the Real Estate, Oil & Gas, Credit Union and Liquor Licensing Practice Groups. His practice primarily involves representing individuals and lending institutions in all aspects of real estate transactions. This includes advising purchasers, sellers, lenders, and borrowers through each step of their purchases, sales, loans, leases, and other transactions. He also has experience handling evictions and other Landlord/Tenant issues.

Other prominent areas of Joel’s practice include oil & gas law, with an emphasis on all aspects of landowner leasing, and Liquor Licensing, where Joel has successfully assisted retail establishments, golf courses, large-scale festivals, concerts, fundraisers and other events in securing the necessary licenses and/or permits from the State Liquor Authority.

Prior to joining HH&K, Joel received his B.S. degree in 2009 from Susquehanna University in Selinsgrove, PA (Environmental Sciences; magna cum laude) and received his J.D. in 2012 from Widener University School of Law in Harrisburg, PA (magna cum laude). While at Widener, Joel was a member of the Widener Law Journal and the author of Dechert LLP v. Commonwealth: A Reminder to Commonwealth Judges to Stay Out of the Kitchen if They Can’t Handle the Heat of Interpreting Complex Areas of Administrative Law, 21 Widener L.J. 423 (Spring 2012).

A native of Conklin, New York, Joel returned to the Binghamton area upon completing his education to serve the community in which he grew up. Joel serves on the Board of Directors for Broome County Habitat for Humanity. He also devotes time to participating in community activities by being an active member of the Broome County Bar Association and its Law Day and Strategic Planning Committees, as well as being an Attorney Advisor for the Susquehanna Valley High School Mock Trial team. Joel is a graduate of the Greater Binghamton Chamber of Commerce BLI Class of 2015. He has also served on the executive leadership team for the 2015 American Heart Association’s Southern Tier Heart Walk.
