Biography

Attorney John Donovan is a senior partner at Sloane and Walsh, LLP where a significant portion of his practice is devoted to complex corporate and tort litigation. He is a graduate of Kenyon College in Gambier, Ohio and Suffolk University Law School in Boston, Massachusetts.

Mr. Donovan works with corporations and individuals to resolve complicated legal issues. He has tried numerous high exposure jury trials in state and federal court. His trials have included a wide spectrum of civil disputes with emphasis on professional liability, corporate litigation, general liability, employment practice liability, subrogation, construction defect, bad faith liability as well as insurance coverage litigation. He has extensive experience representing healthcare providers, institutions and practice groups.

Attorney Donovan also focuses on health information privacy issues and matters involving violations of HIPAA and/or data privacy laws. He regularly advises clients on privacy and data security compliance and the preparation/implementation of privacy and data security policies.

Mr. Donovan serves as counsel for several institutions and corporations, including, the National Football League. He also serves as national counsel for several insurance companies and advises insurers on issues relating to commercial and personal lines.

Attorney Donovan has argued appellate cases before the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit and the Massachusetts Appeals Court.

Mr. Donovan is a member of multiple state bar associations as well as a long time affiliate member of the Defense Research Institute and the National Association of Subrogation Professionals. He has extensive teaching experience and has spoken at multiple industry specific events on relevant legal matters. He has been a frequent speaker and panelist on topics relating to healthcare, employment and insurance law.
