John B. Mizell has been a resident of Charlotte County since being admitted to the Florida Bar in 1986. He is a Florida native, born in Gainesville, Florida. Currently he is the Founder and President of Mizell & Mays Law Firm, P.A. which was originally established in 2005.John focuses his practice primarily in the areas of estate planning and estate administration. However, both he and the Firm also provide representation in the purchasing, establishing or selling of closely-held business entities as well as real estate closings. He is the recipient of Martindale-Hubbell’s prestigious “Av Preeminent” Rating, indicating that peers rank him at preeminent levels of professionalism and ethical standards. John has been Florida Bar Board Certified in Wills, Trusts and Estates since 1995. John attended Stetson University where he obtained both a B.B.A. degree in Finance as well as his Juris Doctorate Degree. He also obtained his Master’s Degree in Taxation Law (LL.M.) from the University of Florida.John is a Past President of the Punta Gorda Rotary Club and a Paul Harris Fellow. He is a Past President of the Charlotte County Bar Association and has served as Chairman of the local Lawyer Grievance Committee. He also maintains membership in the Real Property Probate and Trust Law Section of the Florida Bar, the Taxation Section of the Florida Bar and the Charlotte County Bar Association. John and his wife, Marilyn, reside with their children in Punta Gorda.
