Biography

Mr. McKeon, a founding partner of Hardin, Kundla, McKeon & Poletto, has served as National Coordinating Counsel to the Irwin Siegel Agency Human Services Program for the past 35 years. As such, he has extensive experience with litigation on behalf of Agencies supporting those with developmental disabilities, serious persistent mental illness, behavioral health challenges and social services/foster care organizations. He has managed high exposure litigation in all 50 states, inclusive of training claims professionals, monitoring panel counsel and working closely with forensic experts. Beyond participating in a number of jury trials, he has conducted hundreds of arbitrations and mediations on behalf of service providers.

Certified by the Supreme Court as a Civil Trial Attorney since 1991, he is a graduate of Muhlenberg College (1980, B.A.) and Seton Hall University School of Law (1983, J.D.). Mr. McKeon has been recognized by his peers as a distinguished litigator inclusive of Young Lawyer of the Year by the New Jersey Bar Association and has long achieved an A.V. preeminent peer ranking by Martindale-Hubbell.

Concurrent with his legal career, Mr. McKeon served six years on the Township Council prior to being elected Mayor of the Township of West Orange, a position he held for three consecutive terms from 1998 through 2010. Contemporaneously, Mr. McKeon was elected to the New Jersey State Assembly and has represented the 27th Legislative District continuously from 2001 through 2023 when elected to the New Jersey State Senate where he continues to serve at the present. During his Legislative career, Mr. McKeon served as Deputy Speaker of the Assembly, Parliamentarian and Chairperson of the Judiciary, Environment & Solid Waste and Financial Institutions & Insurance Committees.
