Biography

John Kellner most recently served as the elected District Attorney for Arapahoe, Douglas, Elbert and Lincoln counties, where he was responsible for seeking justice for over 1.1 million Coloradans. As a highly accomplished lawyer with unique trial experience and elite trial skills, he tried several of Colorado’s toughest and most prominent cold cases. Throughout his career John has been recognized as the top prosecutor in the state and by Mothers Against Drunk Drivers for holding reckless drivers accountable. John is passionate about fighting for those who have been harmed by others, including serious injury and wrongful death cases.

John is a U.S. Marine Corps and Afghanistan War veteran who served on active duty as a trial counsel, operational law attorney, and Special Assistant United States Attorney. He continues to serve as a Lieutenant Colonel in the Marine Corps Reserves, responding to natural disasters and homeland defense missions.

John is a graduate of the University of Colorado-Boulder School of Law. He and his wife Sarah are avid skiers and love to spend time with their children.
