Biography

John M. Power is a partner at Cogan and Power, P.C., Attorneys at Law, a Chicago personal injury law firm. Mr. Power has practiced law for over twenty years and has achieved over $85 million in verdicts and settlements on behalf of his clients. His record-breaking achievements in the courtroom include a multi-million dollar jury verdict for the family of a sixteen-day-old baby who died after being misdiagnosed and set home from a Kane County hospital. In addition, he won a record-breaking jury verdict for a woman who had a surgical sponge left inside of her abdominal cavity. He has obtained over twelve million dollars for his clients in the last year alone.

He also obtained a settlement for the wrongful death of a young man, which was sixty-five times the coverage available. He has been recognized as a Super Lawyer, a Leading Lawyer, and has been listed in Crain's Chicago Business's top settlements and verdicts issues.

Mr. Power received his law degree from Loyola University Law School in 1987. In 1993, he founded a defense firm, which grew to thirteen lawyers. He joined Cogan and Power, P.C., in 2001 after deciding to devote his considerable experience and talents full time to the representation of injured parties and families in plaintiff personal injury litigation.
