Biography

John Paul “JP” McCarty is a goal-focused, result-oriented defense attorney based in the Greater New Orleans area who represents businesses and insurance carriers in general liability and insurance defense matters. With extensive trial experience, JP provides practical guidance and strategic insights to his clients navigating complex disputes.

Before joining Galloway, JP strengthened his litigation skills in Colorado as both a state law clerk and later a Senior District Attorney, first or second chairing over 50 jury trials, including homicide cases. He has also handled real estate matters in Mississippi, giving him a broad understanding of litigation across multiple areas of law.

A Mississippi native, JP and his wife are raising their three children on the Northshore of New Orleans. Outside of work, he enjoys running and playing soccer.

Representative Matters

• Multi-week First-Degree Murder jury trial in Adams County District Court. After a lengthy trial, the jury returned its guilty verdict in less than two hours.
