Biography

John Ponterio is a graduate of New York University (B.A., 1988) and Brooklyn Law School (J.D., 1991). He is admitted to practice in New York and New Jersey.

John began his career at the law firm of Dwyer & Brennan where he handled a variety of insurance defense matters as well as claims based on ERISA. After leaving Dwyer & Brennan, John joined the in-house law offices of Kemper Insurance Company and then The Hartford where he continued to litigate cases involving Labor Law, premises liability, motor vehicle accidents, products liability and no-fault claims. In 2005, John joined with Matthew Schwartz to form the law firm of Schwartz & Ponterio, PLLC.

John practices in all areas of civil litigation with a concentration in legal malpractice and personal injury. John also handles the preparation of wills and real estate closings.
