John Unell

Since 1996, John Unell has been a Board Certified Attorney in both Residential Real Estate Law and Commercial Real Estate Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. He has represented buyers, sellers, landlords, tenants, individuals, entities, heirs, contractors, builders, banks and others with both their transactional and litigation matters as they pertain to real estate and real property laws in Texas.

Based in Plano, Texas, and serving the entire Dallas – Fort Worth Metroplex, Mr. Unell has concentrated his practice solely on issues dealing with residential and commercial real estate. Be it a purchase, sale, lease, negotiation, dispute or litigation, as long as it’s related to real estate, he can give you the expertise and advice you need to make an informed decision and to get the deal done. Prior to forming his own law firm in 1995, Mr. Unell worked at Barker, Block & Muscat, a law firm which also primarily concentrated its practice in the area of real property law.

Mr. Unell earned a B.A. with Special Honors from the University of Texas at Austin in 1982 and graduated from Southern Methodist University with a Juris Doctor in 1985. Mr. Unell has been named a Texas Super Lawyer five times in the past, most recently in 2019, and twice named to D Magazine’s list of Best Lawyers in Dallas. He has also been a member of The College of the State Bar of Texas. Currently, he’s a member of the Real Estate, Probate and Trust Law and the Construction Law sections of the State Bar of Texas.
