Biography

For nearly 25 years, John has represented business owners and families throughout southwestern Illinois in a variety of business transactions and litigation matters. Prior to starting his own firm, John was a partner at two prominent Metro East law firms.

Business and Real Estate Transactions.

John has broad experience in corporate and transactional matters. John has assisted clients throughout southwestern Illinois buy and sell their businesses, purchase and sell business assets, contract with other businesses for inventory and services, hire and retain employees, and resolve insurance matters. These business clients range in size from small to large, and the transactions from relatively simple to highly complex.

John has a deep understanding of real estate law, having closed on countless real estate transactions, ranging from residential properties to large industrial and commercial developments. John has negotiated and drafted hundreds of purchase contracts, easements, leases, covenants and restrictions, and deeds.

Litigation.

John has years of experience with hundreds of court appearances, including hearings, trials, and appeals, in a wide range of business and real estate litigation matters. John has successfully prosecuted and defended shareholder disputes, breaches of contract, title insurance claims, real estate disputes, insurance coverage disputes, estate disputes, negligence, and fraud claims throughout southwestern Illinois. John litigates cases in Circuit Courts throughout southwestern Illinois, in the Illinois Courts of Appeal, and in arbitration through the American Arbitration Association.

Community Service:

With a dedication to community service, John serves as a member of the Leadership Council of Southwestern Illinois, Chair of the Fire and Police Commission for the City of Edwardsville, and has served on the Boards of the Girl Scouts of Southern Illinois, the Edwardsville YMCA, Children’s Home and Aid-Southern Region, and the Goshen Rotary.
