Biography

Jon Mandel is of counsel to the Bose McKinney & Evans Real Estate and Gaming Groups. He is also senior vice president at Bose Public Affairs Group, where he leads the multistate strategy practice and a local government relations practice focused on Washington, D.C.

Before joining Bose McKinney & Evans, Mandel worked at a large multistate law firm, where he was a member of the Real Estate Group. There, he assisted investors, real estate advisors and developers on all aspects of commercial real estate, including acquisitions, dispositions, financing, joint venture formation and leasing.

Mandel has substantial legal, legislative, regulatory, communications and public affairs experience. As part of his public affairs practice, Mandel testified before legislative committees in several states and Washington, D.C.; provided representation through an attorney general investigation; and lobbied lawmakers in dozens of states across the country on issues like 5G broadband, sports wagering, renewable energy and cryptocurrency.

Before attending law school, Mandel served as a legislative and communications staffer in the office of Ward 5 D.C. Councilmember Kenyan McDuffie. He has managed several successful local and national political campaigns. Early in his career, he worked at a large public relations agency where he delivered both traditional and digital media coverage for the United States’ transition to electronic health care records.

A native Washingtonian, Mandel is active in his community. He serves as an elected member of the DC Democratic State Committee, the Democratic National Committee-chartered Democratic Party for the District of Columbia, and as an advisor to Station DC, a technology incubator that connects startups with policymakers and investors.
