Biography

Jonathan K. Nelson founded JK Nelson Law on a straightforward premise: Southern Nevada deserves a law firm that combines big-firm legal capability with genuine personal attention. Thirteen years later, the firm operates from three locations — Pahrump, Cimarron in Southwest Las Vegas, and Summerlin — serving clients throughout Clark and Nye Counties in personal injury, family law, probate, estate planning, and criminal defense.

Jonathan earned his Bachelor's in Finance (2001) and M.B.A. from Grand Valley State (2003) before obtaining his J.D. from Thomas M. Cooley Law School in 2008. Prior to entering private practice, he spent a decade in corporate banking negotiating complex, high-value commercial transactions — a background that provides a measurable strategic advantage in settlement negotiations and litigation strategy that distinguishes his practice from attorneys without that foundation.

Admitted to the Nevada Bar in 2012, Jonathan is also licensed in Michigan and the Federal Courts for the District of Nevada. He serves as Official Legal Counsel to the Pahrump Valley Chamber of Commerce and sits on its Board of Directors — a reflection of his deep commitment to the communities he serves. He maintains an active engagement with the Pahrump Senior Center and is among the most recognized attorneys in Nye County.

The firm provides full Spanish-language representation through bilingual attorneys and case managers — a meaningful capability in Southern Nevada's diverse communities.

Jonathan's peer recognition includes designation as Legal Elite by Nevada Business Magazine, Top 40 Under 40 by the National Trial Lawyers Association, and myVegas Top 100 Lawyers. In 2024, JK Nelson Law was voted Best of Las Vegas in three categories: Divorce and Family Law, Estate Planning and Probate, and Bankruptcy — a distinction reflecting the firm's breadth and consistent client outcomes.
