Originally from West Virginia, Joni embarked on her academic journey at West Virginia University, where she pursued a dual degree in Criminology and Communications. Drawn to the vibrant city of Charleston, she continued her education at the esteemed Charleston School of Law. Joni's affection for the city quickly grew, prompting her to establish it as her permanent home after just a few months of residence. During her time in law school, Joni displayed exceptional aptitude, earning a coveted CALI Excellence for the Future Award in Family Law. Additionally, she actively participated in organizations such as the Maritime Law Society and the Alliance for Equality, further enriching her legal knowledge and experiences.
