Biography

Joe Marino is a criminal defense attorney and former Louisiana State Representative. He served 2 terms in the Louisiana Legislature and was the Chairman of the Criminal Justice Committee. He has also served as a Gretna City Councilman and as an interim Jefferson Parish Councilman. He was appointed pro tempore as a District Court Judge in the 24th Judicial District Court by the Louisiana Supreme Court.

For over 30 years, Joe has practiced law on the West Bank of Jefferson Parish. Having focused most of his career on Criminal Defense, he is well versed in all aspects of the Jefferson Parish criminal justice system and the 24th Judicial District Courts. He is an experienced trial attorney, who takes client cases seriously and handles them with professional efficiency. His clients benefit from his extensive legal knowledge and expertise in dealing with the criminal cases in Jefferson Parish.

Joe has served as President of the Jefferson Bar Association and as a board member.. He also served as a board member for the Louisiana Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. Both he and his law partner, Davidson Ehle, are certified Police Academy Instructors and have taught at the Gretna, Kenner and Westwego Police Academies. He is a frequent speaker at Continuing Legal Education seminars for the Louisiana State Bar Association, the New Orleans Bar Association and the Jefferson Bar Association.

He has earned the highest possible rating for legal ability and ethical standards (AV Rating) by his peers on Martindale-Hubbell.

Legislative awards include the Legislator of the Year Award from Alliance for Good Government, Jefferson Chapter, the Legislator of Year Award from Louisiana State Fireman's Association, the Legislator of the Year Award from Fifth Circuit Judges Association, the Dyslexia Legislative Champion from the Dyslexia Resource Center, and the Legislator of the Year Award from Sexual Trauma Awareness and Response (STAR) organization

Joe Marino, III graduated from Louisiana State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism, and the University of South Carolina School of Law with a Juris Doctorate degree. He is a proud alumni of Holy Cross School in New Orleans.
