Biography

Joe has extensive experience in insurance defense litigation, including, products liability and medical device defense, automobile/trucking/transportation defense, premises liability and general liability on behalf of both primary and excess insurance carriers as well as a number of Fortune 100 companies. He has developed expertise in virtually all types of land-based casualty fields, in cases involving personal injury, wrongful death and first and third party property matters. He has successfully tried to verdict cases in each of these fields in both state and federal courts throughout Louisiana and had handled matters in all 5 state appellate courts and Louisiana Supreme Court. A strong proponent of mediation, Joe has resolved approximately 200 lawsuits of all kinds through mediation over the past 20 years. Following Hurricanes Katrina and Gustav, Joe resolved over 100 first party property claims brought on behalf of businesses and homeowners and has successfully defended numerous matters involving claims of bad faith.


Joe has lectured frequently on trial practice at conferences sponsored by the Louisiana Bar Association and the Louisiana Association of Defense Counsel and he has previously served for 5 years on the Tulane Law School adjunct faculty, teaching Trial Advocacy. Joe has been selected by his peers as Best Lawyers in the fields of Bet-the-Company, Commercial, Personal Injury and Product Liability Litigation and has been chosen as a "Super Lawyer" in the field of Personal Injury Defense. Joe is also a Board Member of The Pro Bono Project, an organization that provides voluntary legal services to those in need.
