Biography

Joseph P. Petito is a seasoned trial attorney focusing on criminal law, DWI/DWAI, family law, and personal injury. He has effectively represented numerous clients in open courts and conducted various trials and hearings across County, Supreme, and Family courts. Renowned for his vigorous courtroom representation, Joseph also boasts a successful appellate record, with one appeal featured on the front page of the New York Law Journal. His earlier role as Senior Assistant District Attorney in the Dutchess County DA’s office saw him manage serious felony cases, including gun, drug, and violence-related crimes. A former judge on the Town of Hyde Park bench for eight years, he made countless decisions without appellate reversals. Joseph, who graduated Cum Laude from Thomas Cooley Law School, also founded Petito & Petito, LLP with his father, practicing in several legal areas. His experience extends to serving as an Attorney for the Child in Dutchess County Family Court.
