Biography

Joseph R. Marra was born in Havre, Montana, on January 25, 1924. Joe began playing the violin at a very early age and, but for the lack of available teachers, would undoubtedly have spent his career playing the violin, rather than practicing law.

After serving in the Navy during World War II, Mr. Marra received his undergraduate degree in 1950 and his law degree from Montana State University in 1951. While his practice was located in Great Falls, Montana, during his active career, he very successfully litigated cases throughout Montana.

He was a member of the Montana Advisory Committee on Rules of Civil Procedure for more than 20 years. He was a member of the Montana Judicial Nominating Commission from 1975 to 1986. He also chaired the first Montana Reapportionment Commission during 1973 and 1974.

He is rated AV® Preeminent ™ in the Martindale-Hubbell® Law Directory.
