Biography

Joe Shapiro advises clients on data privacy and security compliance, technology contracts, the use of artificial intelligence, website and mobile app terms, data breach response, and digital marketing. His practice focuses on designing and managing enterprise-wide privacy and security programs in compliance with current and emerging U.S. and international privacy laws including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), Colorado Privacy Act (CPA), and Virginia Consumer Data Protection Act (VCDPA). Joe also advises on commercial and technology contracts, vendor agreements, SaaS agreements, cloud and mobile platform terms, technology and data licensing, and other contracting matters at the intersection of law and technology.

With a background in computer science and experience in advising on digital compliance, Joe works with clients to manage risk while navigating new and emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence (including generative AI and LLMs), wiretapping and digital surveillance, satellite production and launch, and more.

Outside of the firm, Joe likes to play and watch sports, and experiment in the kitchen with new recipes.
