Joshua Crispin Cohen

Joshua Crispin Cohen: Attorney with Cohen Law Partners

Biography

Joshua C. Cohen has a proven history of seeking justice for his clients. He graduated from Vermont Law School with a Juris Doctor (Dean's List, American Jurisprudence Award), and a Master's Degree (Cum Laude). He clerked with the United States Environmental Protection Agency, the London office of Dewey and LeBoeuf and the Office of the California Attorney General.

Josh was a member of a legal team that represented states, municipalities and water providers in recovering cleanup costs for contaminated groundwater. That team secured a $105 million dollar verdict for New York City in a federal suit against ExxonMobil to cleanup MTBE in the Queens aquifer. Later, Josh worked at the Los Angeles City Attorney's Office, where he prosecuted misdemeanors for the City of Los Angeles. Prior to joining his father's practice, Josh worked with individual plaintiffs, litigating personal injury, legal and medical malpractice claims. This experience inspired Josh to work with individuals seeking justice for wrongdoings against them. Josh has brought this experience to bear by expanding his father's probate practice to represent injured people in litigation involving catastrophic injuries, wrongful death and other torts.

As a bicycle commuter, Josh appreciates the contributions bicycles make to environmental and traffic conditions in Los Angeles. He recognizes the dangers cyclists face, and is a strident advocate on their behalf. He is dedicated to preventing the accidents they commonly experience, and seeking redress when they get hurt.

Josh is a member of the Los Angeles County Bicycle Coalition and MoveLA, a county-wide organization devoted to transportation issues in Los Angeles. He is also a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates, the Consumer Attorneys Association of Los Angeles, the Consumer Attorneys of California, and the Los Angeles County Bar Association.

Before becoming a lawyer, Josh worked as teacher with the Los Angeles Unified School District. Prior to that, he was a professional drummer, performing nationally and internationally with countless artists, including the Breakestra, Wu-Tang Clan, Macy Gray and the Black-Eyed Peas.
