Joshua Roger Lopez

A Miami native, Joshua is a graduate of Belen Jesuit Preparatory School, Florida State University, and the University of Florida's Fredric G. Levin College of Law. During law school, he earned a Certificate in Environmental, Land Use, and Real Estate Law and competed on the Environmental Moot Court team. He completed externships within the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida and Children's Legal Services (Florida Department of Children and Families). He also studied abroad at the University of Oxford.

Before transitioning to plaintiffs work, Joshua defended major cruise lines and insurance companies in catastrophic injury and wrongful death cases. This experience gave him an insider's perspective on how these corporations evaluate claims, build defenses, and approach litigation. Before joining Morgan & Morgan, he spent five years representing plaintiffs against large insurance companies through all aspects of litigation and appellate advocacy. During this time, he fought to hold insurers accountable for wrongful denials, underpayments, and bad faith practices.

At Morgan & Morgan, Joshua's practice focuses on maritime and admiralty law. He represents cruise line passengers and crew members, seamen injured under the Jones Act, victims of excursion accidents, and individuals harmed in a wide variety of general maritime incidents. Drawing on his defense background and years of plaintiff-side experience, he anticipates the strategies used by cruise lines and insurers. This allows him to build stronger cases and fight more effectively for the compensation his clients deserve.

Joshua has also held leadership roles throughout his career, including managing attorney positions and overseeing compliance, risk management, and business development initiatives. Outside of work, he is an avid endurance runner and hiker. He supports his local community through KidSide Miami, Inc., a non-profit that assists children and families in crisis due to court cases.
