Julie is a senior associate in GrayRobinson's Orlando office in the Health Care and Litigation Practice Groups. She concentrates her practice in medical malpractice, transportation litigation, property insurance defense, premises liability, insurance defense, general business litigation and health care. Julie has experience representing physicians, hospitals, ambulatory surgical centers, nurses and other health care providers across the state of Florida in matters involving professional liability, risk management, general liability and premise liability. She also defends automobile and other vehicular liability cases involving commercial conveyance and common carriers and represents insurance companies in first- and third-party claims and coverage disputes. Julie also assists organizations and individual medical providers in navigating the complex and ever-changing federal and state health care regulatory environment in such areas as Anti-kickback, Stark, HIPAA, HITECH, state patient self-referral laws and state patient brokering laws.
Julie has litigated civil matters in both federal and state jurisdictions as well as state administrative actions involving professional licensure and discipline.
Background
Julie was born in Buffalo, New York. She spent her childhood in Orchard Park, New York, where she graduated from Orchard Park High School. She went on to earn a bachelor's degree in legal studies from the University at Buffalo. Before receiving her law degree, Julie worked as a paralegal for seven years in the areas of medical malpractice, personal injury, product liability, aviation and wrongful death cases. Julie earned her law degree from Barry University School of Law, where she graduated cum laude. While in law school, she was a law clerk for in-house counsel at one of Orlando's largest hospital systems. She was also a Note & Comment Editor on Law Review and a member of the trial team. Prior to joining the firm, Julie gained valuable trial experience as an Assistant State Attorney for the State Attorney's Office, 9th Judicial Circuit. She also litigated medical malpractice, automobile liability and other civil matters for over two years before joining GrayRobinson.
