Biography

Julie is a trial attorney who has experience representing clients in all South Carolina courts. She thrives on the opportunity to help individuals and businesses solve problems and works diligently to get the best results for her clients. Julie is a civil litigator and her practice is primarily dedicated to advocating for individuals who have suffered serious bodily injury, helping families who’ve lost a loved one to pursue wrongful death claims, and representing individuals and business partners who have been the victims of fraud, securities fraud and breaches of fiduciary duty.

Julie has been consistently selected by her peers as a South Carolina Super Lawyers’ Rising Star in the area of general litigation. Prior to joining Duffy & Young, Julie worked as an associate with McLeod Law Group where her practice focused on personal injury and civil rights claims. She was part of a trial team that obtained multi-million dollar verdicts on behalf of individuals in wrongful death and employment discrimination cases. Prior to entering private practice, Julie clerked for the Honorable John Cannon Few while he served as Chief Judge of the South Carolina Court of Appeals.

Julie is an active member of the South Carolina Bar Young Lawyers Division and was selected to participate in the South Carolina Bar’s 2016 Leadership Academy. Currently, Julie is the statewide co-chair of the iCivics Committee and is very proud of the work the Committee has done to create the My Voice. My Vote. scholarship contest for South Carolina high school students. Julie is also one of the coordinators for the Special Olympics Committee and co-created the annual Bowling Buddies event that brings together young lawyers and Special Olympics athletes. She is also a member of the editorial board of the magazine and has served as a member of the adjunct faculty at the Charleston School of Law. In 2014, Julie was appointed to the Charleston County Business License/User Fee Appeals Board by the Charleston County Council.
