Biography

Kacey joins the Law Offices of Samer Habbas & Associates after a distinguished career as a Riverside County prosecutor, where she specialized in community outreach and the prosecution of cases involving sexual assault, child abuse, and domestic violence. Kacey’s unwavering commitment to advocating for survivors of abuse and holding abusers accountable has defined her career. Today, she brings her extensive courtroom experience, passion for advocacy, and trauma-informed approach to representing clients in the civil sector.

As a Senior Deputy District Attorney and Trial Team Leader, Kacey successfully advocated on behalf of thousands of survivors of abuse and exploitation. She understands that effective advocacy means combining relentless courtroom preparation with empathy, client connection, and respect.

As a trial attorney, she utilized this connection to advocate on behalf of victims and secure guilty verdicts in cases of aggravated sexual assault of children, domestic violence, elder abuse, adult sexual assault, human trafficking, and homicide. She has trained hundreds of law enforcement professionals on building rapport with survivors, and investigating crimes of sexual assault, physical abuse, and complex major fraud.

Kacey’s passion for advocacy extends far outside the courtroom. Through school assemblies and community outreach, she has presented to tens of thousands of students, educators, and families on predator awareness, anti-bullying, the power of words, and the importance of reporting abuse. She co-founded the nonprofit Women Wonder Writers and has served on the boards of multiple charitable organizations aimed at ending abuse. As an advocate for youth, Kacey has developed innovative programs and authored unique curriculum centered on youth empowerment, healthy cathartic outlets, and abuse awareness. She currently mentors youth in the community, serves as a volunteer hearing officer for Youth Court, and teaches female empowerment and literary classes at Juvenile Hall.

Kacey’s dedication to public safety and survivor advocacy has earned her numerous accolades, including the Excellence in Public Safety Award, Community Hero Award, Chief Probation Officer’s Award, District Attorney Leadership Award, Special Prosecutions Prosecutor of the Year Award, and recognition by the Riverside County Office of Education for her outstanding support and collaboration in promoting a safe and secure learning environment.

Kacey earned her B.A., summa cum laude, from the University of San Diego and received her J.D., along with certification in dispute resolution, from Pepperdine University School of Law.
