Biography

Karen J. Dodd has handled over 350 appeals, including the significant case of In re A.C. (2005) 130 Cal.App.4th 854, which established that dependency jurisdiction was improper, and California had no jurisdiction under the Uniform Child Custody Jurisdiction and Enforcement Act simply because a parent could not provide a child with adequate medical treatment through no fault of the parent.

Mrs. Dodd obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in American Studies from San Jose State University in 1975 and her law degree from Western State University in Fullerton in 1988. While in law school, she won awards in Moot Court and was a member of the Law Review.
