Biography

Katerina Newell is a graduate of the University of Virginia School of Law. While at UVA Law, Ms. Newell was an Articles Editor for the Virginia Journal of International Law and clerked at the Legal Aid Justice Center, where she advised clients on employment law matters.

Following graduation from law school, Ms. Newell worked as a Labor & Employment associate at Paul Hastings Janofsky & Walker, an AmLaw top 50 firm. She represented employers in a wide variety of cases, including class actions under Title VII and cases under the Fair Labor Standards Act and the National Labor Relations Act. She also defended employers facing discrimination charges before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.

Ms. Newell is fluent in Russian and has used her knowledge of the Russian language and culture to assist many AmLaw top 100 firms in investigations under the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act.

Ms. Newell holds a B.A. in Journalism & Mass Communication from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she graduated summa cum laude and with honors.

Ms. Newell is married and has three children.

She is admitted to practice in Virginia (2006) and the District of Columbia (2007).
