As Of Counsel at Family Legal Advocacy Group (FLAG), Katherine "Katie" F. Thomas is committed to delivering personalized representation for families, with a particular passion for assisting children with special education needs.

Born and raised in Montgomery County, Katie pursued her undergraduate studies at Loyola University, Maryland. Graduating with a double major in Communications and Spanish, she gained valuable experience interning for the Honorable John C. Themelis in Baltimore City's Circuit Court during her time at Loyola.

Katie continued her legal journey at Francis King Carey's University of Maryland School of Law, where she actively participated in the Clinical Law Program. Serving as a Rule 16 attorney, she contributed to the Prisoner Assistance Project and took on the role of a teaching assistant for the Criminal Defense Clinic.

Beyond her legal endeavors, Katie has made significant contributions to the community, previously serving as the Chairperson for the Local Interagency Coordinating Council for Montgomery County's Infants and Toddler Program. She continues to be a dedicated parent member on the LICC. Katie's advocacy extends to Washington, DC events, where she shares her experiences of raising a medically-fragile child with special needs.

Currently residing in Montgomery County with her husband, children, and dog, Katie brings a personal touch to her professional and community commitments. In her downtime, she embraces the role of a busy mom, finding joy in cooking, solving puzzles, and playing golf. Katie's multifaceted approach reflects her dedication to both the legal profession and her role as a passionate advocate for families, especially those with special education needs.
