I worked in a writing lab while I was in college, tutoring students to form strong arguments and avoid plagiarism. The transition from teaching my classmates to develop and safeguard their written work to advocating for the businesses of entrepreneurs, small businesses, start ups, and creatives was easy. Just like drafting a paper, building a brand requires a framework for growth. I relish in providing my clients the transactional due diligence, intellectual property development and enforcement, and, when necessary, litigation support necessary for their businesses to thrive.

I came of age as in-house counsel for CrossFit, Inc., where I managed its relationships with licensees and expanded its intellectual property portfolio world-wide. I represent my clients in trademark office actions and cancellation proceedings at the United States Patent and Trademark Office. I am particularly adept at leveraging tools provided by and relationships with social media platforms to serve my clients’ needs. I have drafted and reviewed documents for formation, exit, and everything between for many businesses and non-profits. Recently, I’ve immersed myself in international, U.S., and state-specific privacy and security regulations to ensure my clients comply with that new and evolving body of law.

I’ve also had my fair share of success in the courtroom. I obtained preliminary injunctive relief on behalf of a mountain-town hotel barring defendant’s use of my client’s trademark. I facilitated the cancelation of an infringing trademark in Finland. I second-chaired a two-week long hearing that resulted in the vacation of an order to quiet title that had been enforced for 6 years due to claimants’ failure to provide proper notice to the interested parties.
