Biography

Kaye N. Courington, CEO and Founding Member, has tried hundreds of claims in seven trials in Louisiana and Mississippi. Six of the trials involved mass litigation of 10 and 129 plaintiffs (the longest jury trial in Jefferson Parish, Louisiana history). In her capacity as National Coordinating Counsel for a major client of the firm, she helps oversee litigation across the country. She has filed amicus briefs on behalf of the Chamber of Commerce of the United States of America, the American Insurance Association, the Property Casualty Insurers Association of America, the Coalition for Litigation Justice and the American Chemistry Council.Kaye has testified before a section of the Louisiana Legislature on the issue of hedonic damages regarding tort reform. In May 2011 she co-chaired the Perrin Conference on Issues Driving Toxic Torts. Kaye is on the Environmental/Energy Editorial Board for the Journal of American Law. Kaye is also serving as co-chair of the National Association of Minority and Women Owned Law Firms, Insurance Alliance Continuing Legal Education subcommittee. She co-chaired the symposium “Asbestos and Toxic Torts — With a Louisiana Twist” at Tulane Law School sponsored by the Tulane Law Review, the Tulane Federalist Society and the Coalition for Litigation Justice” in 2004.

Kaye was voted a New Orleans Magazine “Best Lawyer in New Orleans” (2009, 2012) by peer attorneys. She was also chosen as a Leader in Law by New Orleans City Business (2013, 2015).. She was included in Martindale-Hubbell’s 2011 Bar Register of Preeminent Women Lawyers exclusive to women lawyers who have achieved the highest possible rating in both legal ability and ethical standards. In 2012, Kaye received a Martindale-Hubbell Client Distinction Award. She was featured in the American Bar Association's Meet the Rainmaker column of Law Practice Management in May 2008 and in the Minority Coporate Counsel of America rainmaker profile issue in November 2013.

Kaye was born in Cherry Point, North Carolina on November 18, 1958. She was admitted to the Louisiana Bar, and the U.S. District Court, Eastern, Western and Middle Districts of Louisiana in 1988, the Texas Bar in 1994, and the United States Supreme Court in 2011. She received her education from H. Sophie Newcomb Memorial College (B.A., 1980) and Tulane University (M.Ed., 1982; J.D., cum laude, 1987.)

Civic activities include appointment to a three-year term on the Director's Council of the Newcomb College Institute, an academic center at Tulane University with a mission to educate women for leadership in the 21st century. Additionally, she previously served as the parents club liaison on the Board of Directors of St. Andrews Episcopal School in New Orleans, and is currently serving on the following advisory committees:

Pie in the Sky Foundation - An organization which will distribute small grants to community groups that are trying to solves problems in their community and want to start income generating projects in Uganda.

Health Access Connect - An organization which will use innovative methods to reach people in remote communities to give them basic healthcare such as using motorcycles to deliver anti-retroviral medication to areas with high HIV in Uganda.

She is also a regular contributor to ACP Advisor Net which is a mentoring and advisory program for returning veterans.
