For more than 30 years, Kelly has been resolving commercial and
insurance disputes.
From large corporations, small to large commercial and residential
brokerages, insurers to individual professionals, her clients are
accustomed to Kelly’s absolute focus on resolution whether by way
of court, settlement conferences, mediations, negotiations or other
effective methods.
For disputes that escalate to litigation, she is a careful and
considered advocate for her clients through mediation or in trial.
Kelly has appeared before all levels of courts in British Columbia
and before various administrative tribunals. She has been
recognized by her peers in the area of Insurance Law and Legal
Malpractice Law in Best Lawyers of Canada.
In addition to resolving and litigating cases for her clients,
Kelly is often retained to provide day-to-day advice to help avoid
costly litigation. Her practical approach, exceptional
communication skills and attentiveness to her clients’ needs
results in early, cost-effective resolutions.
Her decades-long ability to successfully collaborate and mediate
solutions has increasingly benefited her clients and further informed
her interest and passion in seeking opportunities to mediate
disputes. Kelly’s commitment to alternative methods of resolving
disputes included attendance to the highly-regarded Straus Institute
for Dispute Resolution at Pepperdine University where she further
honed her mediation skills. Kelly’s mediation practice
focuses primarily on corporate commercial disputes and insurance
disputes (including professional liability, personal injury, and
property claims).
Kelly has authored a number of articles and training materials for
various professional organizations in British Columbia. She has been
involved, throughout her career, in mentoring young lawyers, both
informally in the law firms and formally through the Women Lawyers
Forum Mentoring program. She provides pro bono services and is
a member of Legal Education and Action Fund and a volunteer with
Mom2Mom.
When not at work Kelly can usually be found with her teenage
daughter at the horse barn or at horse shows. She enjoys
exploring the world with her husband, daughter and friends and/or
hiding away with a good book.
