Biography

Keran John Billaud is an Associate at the Firm's Fort Lauderdale West office and practices in construction law, personal injury, general civil litigation, and insurance defense.

Mr. Billaud received his Juris Doctor from the University of Florida Fredric G. Levin College of Law in Gainesville, FL, and a MAMC in Professional Telecommunications from the UF College of Journalism and Communications. He attended Emory & Henry College, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communications with a double-minor in French and English Literature/Creative Writing. In 2016, he was a recipient of the Top Student Paper Award in the Law & Policy Division at the national AEJMC Annual Conference and also received the 2015-2016 college-wide Outstanding Graduate Student Teaching Award for his work at the UF College of Journalism and Communications.

Throughout graduate studies, he focused on civil rights law, mass communication law, First Amendment law, and telecommunications administrative law, co-authoring law journal articles and participating as an Earle K. Moore Research fellow for the Multicultural Media, Telecom and Internet Council in Washington, D.C. during 2018. There, he focused on geographic redlining, the Santana Initiative, the RADIO Pirate Act, and the Uniendo A Puerto Rico Fund and Connect USVI Fund. During law school, Billaud spent his spare time working pro bono on civil rights issues, performing community service through Habitat for Humanity, and was recognized by the Levin College of Law for outstanding achievement in these areas.
