Kevin J. Chapman

Kevin Chapman has been practicing law in his hometown of Williston, North Dakota, since 1993. Kevin is highly rated in legal ability and ethics by his peers. He has spent his entire legal career being a trial lawyer. Kevin practices primarily in the areas of criminal defense, DUI/DWI defense, personal injury, and civil litigation (including oil field accidents and burn cases, serious personal injury and wrongful death cases). Kevin is admitted to practice in North Dakota and Montana District and Federal Courts.

Education

Kevin received his Law Degree from the University of North Dakota in 1993. Ever since that time, he has practiced law in Williston, North Dakota, and surrounding communities. Kevin spent his first 7 years as a lawyer with the Winkjer Law Firm, a well respected and established Western North Dakota law firm, which provided excellent training and legal experience. After working there, Kevin went on the establish his own practice, Chapman Law Firm, P.C.

Kevin has tried numerous high profile criminal defense cases through jury trial. He has also handled typical misdemeanor cases and DUI all the way up through Class AA Felony offenses and drug offenses. Kevin his tried numerous death cases as well. Kevin has a variety of published opinions through the North Dakota Supreme Court and is an experience litigator and trial lawyer.

For Kevin, the most satisfying aspect of practicing law is standing next to his client when a successful jury verdict comes in. Kevin has an excellent consistent trial record, achieving not guilty verdicts when it appeared impossible to others. Kevin has not guilty jury verdicts in alcohol related offenses, DUI, felony drug possession and other drug related offenses, felony negligent homicide and manslaughter, felony aggravated assault, felony reckless endangerment, felony illegal possession of firearms, felony sex GSI, felony theft of property and embezzlement, harassment, interference with 911 call, felonious restraint, and others.

Kevin has served on committees for the State bar Association of North Dakota, including the Consumer Protection Committee. He is the past President of the Williston Chambers of Commerce, United Way, Toastmasters, the Upper Missouri Bar Association, and served for many years on the Finance Committee for St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Kevin has served as a volunteer for numerous other organizations in the community and is a big supporter of local sporting teams and the Williston High School.
