Biography

Kobie is an associate in the firm’s Anti-Fraud and Extra Contractual Litigation, Construction, Mass Tort/Toxic Tort, and Safety, Toxic Tort & Environmental practice groups. His practice includes anti-fraud investigations and litigation involving asbestos and talc exposure.

Before joining Meagher + Geer, Kobie served as an Unemployment Law Judge with the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development, where he presided over unemployment insurance appeals for employee discharge matters. He also clerked for the Honorable Kendra D. Briggs for the Superior Court of the District of Columbia, where the docket exclusively involved criminal misdemeanors, felonies, and involuntary civil commitment hearings.

Kobie earned his J.D. from the University of Baltimore School of Law, where he served as associate editor for The University of Baltimore Law Forum and chair of its Bluebook Mentoring Committee. Kobie was also active in the Black Law Students Association, serving as its director of community service.

Kobie spent most of his time in law school as a law fellow with the NAACP Office of the General Counsel, where he provided research and writing for high-profile litigation matters and managed a network of law students and legal advocates. He also spent part of his time as a law clerk with a mid-Atlantic insurance defense firm. In this role, he specialized in fraud prevention, accident reconstruction, premises liability, and wrongful death matters.

Kobie obtained a B.A. degree in Criminology and Criminal Justice from the University of Maryland, College Park, and an MBA from the University of Baltimore Merrick School of Business.

Outside the office, Kobie enjoys cooking, freshwater bottom fishing, car shows, and Spanish language narrative media to keep his professional proficiency sharp.
