Biography

Attorney LaShaunté S. Henry is licensed to practice in both Texas and Louisiana. With over fourteen years of experience in various fields of law, her primary focus is Family Law. Having previously worked in the legislative, judicial and executive branches of government, she brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the legal field.

LaShaunté S. Henry is a graduate of the Southern University Law Center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. While there, she was a member of the Dean’s List and facilitated the agreement between the law center and the Baton Rouge City Court to establish mediations for landlord-tenant disputes. There she defended civil lawsuits, engaged in complex construction litigation, participated in numerous statewide public speaking engagements, and taught Continuing Legal Education (C.L.E.) courses for other attorneys and stakeholders in the legal community. She previously owned and operated a solo practice focusing on the areas of Personal Injury and Family Law, and also worked as an Attorney Advisor for the U.S. Small Business Administration.

Prior to law school, she worked in Washington, D.C., for a distinguished member of the United States Congress, Rep. Eddie Bernice Johnson (D-TX), while chair of two powerful legislative committees. Attorney Henry previously worked in the East Baton Rouge Parish Mayor’s Office, under Mayor Bobby Simpson (R), where she was assigned to citizen’s issues and helped to perform data collection and analysis for “CanDo” (Community Action in Neighborhoods Developing Opportunities), a Blight Elimination Team designed to implement Organize Your Neighborhood Now!, the training program on how to start and run a Neighborhood or Civic Association. Her past work experience also includes working for the Honorable Pamela Taylor-Johnson at the East Baton Rouge Parish Juvenile Court, and as support staff in several corporate law firms that specialize in insurance defense work, the most notable being the global Jones Walker Law Firm.
